[Case Study] How I Growth Hacked LinkedIn In 30 Days

I started being somewhat active on LinkedIn in late 2019 and made it my 2020 goal to pursue growth on this platform

 

Starting off the year with less than 200 followers, and less than 100 views per post

 

By April I had 600 Followers with some posts hitting a couple of thousand views

 

In May, my first post went viral, reaching 24k people with only 800 followers

 

Another post got featured by the LinkedIn News Editor alongside Jeff Weiner, CEO of LinkedIn

I knew I was onto something, I went into the rabbit hole to reverse engineer my posts and other successful LinkedIn Influencers

 

I kicked off a 30 Days challenge to myself and here are the results of my 30 Days Case study

 

1. Profile Visits Grew By 25X From 20 Views A Day to 500 Views a Day

If you think of your LinkedIn profile as your online resume, you’ve got it wrong.

Reap the fruits of your labor through the LinkedIn Inbox. Once you post enough content, engage with others, and optimized your profile, the opportunities will start flooding in.

 

I was able to generate USD 100k in inbound leads, receive various senior level job offers, and business partnership opportunities.

 

Everything here is purely inbound, I have to date done zero outbound messages or lead generation

 

The ROI on LinkedIn is high but just like any social platform requires time and effort

 

My time spent on LinkedIn has gone up to 11 hours a week, just over an hour per day

Some sacrifices made with lesser time on Facebook and Instagram but I do see a higher value on this platform.

 

At the moment, the organic reach on LinkedIn is the highest among other social platforms like Facebook and Instagram (except maybe TikTok).

 

The opportunity to arbitrage attention here is crazy, best to maximize it while you can, before LinkedIn changes its algorithm to follow the footsteps of Facebook.

 

Facebook is pay to play now, with organic reach below 3%. It’s also why they’ve become a multi-billion dollar company with $69 Billion in Advertising Revenue in 2019 and no doubt LinkedIn will eventually reduce organic reach to boost advertising revenue.

 

After sharing these results with my circle, there were many requests to put together a playbook that would guide them step by step on achieving similar results in 30 days.

 

It’s something I’m mulling over and thinking to put together.
